John Buddy is de bestest lookin in de South. A hard worker, he gits hisself some edacatin fawls in luv, has lots of chillin. Eventually he becomes a preacher to rival Elmer Gantry, in more ways than one: altho he do seem to best him in philanderin. Evry omans wants hisself; most gits im. Okay, if you make it this far through the Southern Negro dialect of the late 1800s-early 1900s, you have a shot at understanding this novel, as it is predominately dialog. Its a great book by a long forgotten author.
