Excellent Russo-esque small town slice of life story. Memorable characters abound in this wryly humorous novel about Cedar Hole, the kind of place where people are terrified to venture into "the city", do things the same way they've always been done because they're afraid of change, and talk about seemingly innocuous events for years after the fact because nothing exciting ever happens. And also a place where the citizens suffer from the same conditions as people everywhere- Mental illness, depression, grudges, and the loss of loved ones. But there's always a light in the darkness and the promise of something better...
