While there are a numerous good books on combat operations in the China-Burma-India (CBI) theater during World War II, most are limited in scope. By this, I mean they are about one aspect of the fighting or from one point of view. My favorites are Field Marshal's Slim's "Defeat into Victory," about the 14th British Army, and Charlton Ogburn's "The Marauders."
"The Jungle War" overcomes this. It is a very good overview, with some considerable details, of all the events in the CBI theater, from the Allies' defeat until their final victory.
If you are interested in learning more about the CBI, this is a very good book to begin with, as it gives you plenty of exposure to areas you might want to read more about.
Having said all that, don't forget to read "Pick Up Your Parrots and Monkeys: The Life of a Boy Soldier in India." You'll never regret doing so.
