The moment businessman Thomas McKinnon hears that the ancient, ruined English keep is up for sale, he feels compelled to purchase it. Now he finds himself the proud owner of Thorpewold, in all its dubious splendor. However, ownership of Thorpewold is a bit questionable, for there is a ghost who claims it belongs to her. In 1382 Iolanthe MacLeod was betrayed and murdered in Thorpewold, and her blood binds her to the castle.

Iolanthe is intrigued by Thomas, who not only can see her, but also guesses her true name. As he spends more time restoring his new purchase, he begins to fear that he has found his soulmate several hundred years too late. Is their love doomed, or is there a way to change history?
