I enjoy Dewey Lambdin's Alan Lewries series and have collected all the novels so far. Alan Lewrie's character may not be that of a typical sterling fearless sea captian but his adventures and an his reaction to the problems that confront him are probaly more in line with human nature than many romanticized versions on the sea. Lewries adventures are lace with historical fact and a sprinkling of humor. The books are quite readable and the characters well drawn. Lewrie stays in character though out the series of books which is something that is not constant in some series. I thoughly recommend theis series 17 books in all now. The books can be read on thier own but signing on starting at the being and working your way through is a fun commission.
