Wonderfully strange and elegantly fascinating, each character in this novel holds true to their enigmatic formlessness. Bella Baxter, whose endearing innocence and erotic-maniacal tendencies leave the reader aching for a redemption. The pacing increases, as Bella seems to mature from infancy to middle age and our hapless narrator can only suffer as he watches life, in all that Bella represents, slip away from him. In the end, the reader is grateful that their are claims that this entire story is false.
