This mammal is the only one that consumes nothing but blood. Surprisingly, the mother bat has a gestation period of 3 to 4 months and only has a single baby at a time. Their enemies are eagles, snakes, and hawks. The bats spend the day in caves and come out at night to eat.

Surprisingly, anyone would want a vampire bat for a pet. The author did offer a warning about acquiring one. These bats are ugly (I'm not sure a mother could love these awful creatures).
