After being bumped around from one police station to another, D.I. Kim Stone reports to Halesowen Police Station to begin her first day and meet her new team. Within an hour, They've caught their first case. A body of a naked man was found staked to the ground, beheaded, and mutilated. With no identification or witnesses, there isn't much to go on. A a member of the team discovers that there may be other victims with the same mutilations. Are these murders tied together?
This is a new author and new series for me. This book is a prequel to the D.I. Kim Stone series. I was reluctant to start another series because I have so many in progress already. I'm glad I gave this a try.
This story is about the forming of Kim's team and the case that brought them together. The characters are so well written. They jump off the page. The mystery was fast paced and well developed. I thought I had figured out the killer near the middle of the book. I was totally wrong. I'll be continuing the series and I highly recommend this book. My rating: 5 Stars.
