Book Review of Blood Orange

Any book about a missing child is gripping. This is no exception, except that as the novel moves along, the abduction seems to be more of a subplot. Instead, the book takes on the themes of marriage ennui versus passion for a near stranger, mental illness, and a good dose of faith as opposed to mere religion. Then we get a sub-plot of a very evil criminal, and whether it's ethical to give assistance and tolerate being near that person.

I cared enough to keep turning pages, but it was odd to me how the actually abduction and subsequent story becomes more of a background
