Simplistic characters in a cliche plot saved only by the author's somewhat interesting writing style. Meyer is a great storyteller— not such a good writer. Bella isn't even a character in the book so much as a conduit through which the reader is allowed to experience Edward; the entire thing caters to dramatic teenage girls who love to read about an ideal man and an ordinary girl. To hear it compared to Wuthering Heights and Romeo & Juliet is appalling and frankly shocking.
