As a fellow-bird lover, I have to admit that I was so excited to be able to read this book and it definitely fascinated me. I loved seeing all the concepts that this little guy understood and the many things he could do. I thought it was amazing that he knew colors, could count, knew what "nothing" was, etc. He actually understood some abstract things!! Amazing to say the least! On the negative side, I didn't care for her comparison of birds with humans and the way she puts them as equal. I definitely disagree with this, but I think she would say this because she believes in evolution and I believe in Creation. Since, this review isn't a debate on Creation vs. Evolution, I'm not going to go into that, but I thought it would be a fair warning to mention it in my review for those who are Creationists. So . . . from that aspect, I didn't care for a few things, but the information about Alex and what & how he learned was fascinating.
