Forensic Instincts (if you haven't read any of the series) is a group of diverse people brought together for their want and need to see justice done. One is their computer geek .. brilliant with a sense of humor... in love with Claire, who is a clairvoyant and adept at reading people's emotions. Casey is the boss ... who's intellect is off the charts and who studies body language. Patrick is her second in command, former NYPD Homicide Detective and Marc, ex-Navy Seal, ex-FBI.

And then there's Emma ... introduced in this book. She's on probation and is to be their receptionist. But Emma is no receptionist ... on her first interview with all the members she manages to pick everyone's pockets. She becomes like an irritating younger sister to them all.

I can't forget Hero .. the scent-smelling bloodhound. And there is Yoda ... you'll have to read the book to see who he is and what he does.

Maddy, a woman that Marc once had a close relationship with ten years previously calls out of the blue .. someone is trying to kill her and she has no idea why.

There's all kinds of things going on .... besides a near-miss hit and run, her ex-husband, a brilliant surgeon, is in a mental health facility because of depression following the death of a very good friend of his who died under his care. The hospital where they are employed is in the middle of a merger. The dead man's wife is suing everyone for her husband's wrongful death. And the dead man's social life is about to hit the newspapers .. seems like he was a real player.

There are lots of secrets and lies just waiting to be exposed. That's what Forensic Instincts does.

This has been such a terrific series! According to the author's notes, she's already working on the next one.

The characters are in turn, law-abiding, except when they're not and will do whatever it takes to see justice done. They're also funny, serious, quirky, intelligent, private individuals.

The story line is a fairly fast read .... not overly complicated with a cast of thousands...and it is very well written.

I give it 5 stars because I really enjoyed the book, enjoyed the series, and look forward to reading the next one when it becomes available.
