This book was a little slow for me in the takeoff but that was partly due to the development of the main character living in alien conditions and the development of the aliens and their world. That was kind of an acclimation process for me (the reader). After that the story and action took off and it was in a page-turner. I had anticipated an expected ending but I was wrong though not disappointed. One of the things I like about this author's books is her adeptness at creating great characters and at the same time placing them in seemingly logical and realistic conflicts with both humans and aliens while stepping outside the run of the mill.
