I'll start by saying I liked Becoming Lady Lockwood, hence my desire to read this but oh my goodness it was tough. It dragged and dragged and...you get the idea. I had no idea when I started it that it would be 98% war and 2% romance. It was a necessary evil I think to have lost so much time trying to get into this book. It seems I needed to understand Serena to be introduced to her brother for Miss Burton Unmasks a Prince and to meet Colonel Stackhouse (who I really liked by the way) for a future novel. Honestly if the book didn't have Nico and Marcos I don't even think I could have brought myself to give it two stars. It really didn't pick up until page 138 and even then only slightly. This book was just too bogged down in military stuff and as much as I liked Sidney in the the Lockwood novel I didn't like him much in this book. Emma was frustrating as the heroine and I just couldn't get into this one.
