Ten years earlier which attending college in California he stopped an assault on a female student. He put the incident behind him and moved back to Wyoming and continued with his life.
Kelly Wright is an employee of a large wine company that wants to buy Mountain Winery. Her first day in Wyoming as she is driving to Mustang Creek in a pouring rain and she slid off the road and is in a bad postition as her car hangs over the edge of the road. Mace sees her car go off the road and rushes to save the driver before the car goes all the way over the edge. Kelly recognizes Mace as the man who saved her from being assaulted at college. Mace does not recognize her until the next day.
Kelly makes the pitch from her company to buy his wine company and he says No. Much of the books is devoted to the back and forth between Mace and Kelly try to come to some type of agreement.
An element of suspense is added when the man who attempted to assault her is let out of prison and starts to stalk her. The resolution of this situation made for an very good read.
The attempt at compromise between Kelly and Mace over the sale of his company and the stalker rounds out the story. Since this is a comtemporary romance of couse they fall in love.
