My wife wanted me to read this book...so I did. I finally finished it and overall was not that impressed. I saw the movie and decided I should have just watched it in the first place. Though I did know more about what was going on the charterer's heads as well as surrounding circumstances, it didn't really change things that much. It's pretty much a girl in love with a heroic boy. The greatest spin is Meyer's unique definition of who and what a vampire is. She casts a light on them, as if to say they're not all bad and that they can be beautiful and amazing immortals. Interesting concept I suppose, but I have no idea if that's original to her. Regardless, vampires are so hot right now...and for some reason well beyond my understanding.
