James Patterson at his best in this Alex Cross book. A savage murder occurs in Washington DC obliterating a family. It is the most gruesome case Alex has ever seen. Then another one and this one hits a friend from his past. As Alex digs into the case he finds a trail to a murderous mercenary called The Tiger and it leads him to Africa. On his own Alex finds himself in a nightmare world moving from Nigeria to Sierra Leone and even to the camps in Darfur. He can trust no one and soon finds himself back in DC were greater shocks await. The term ripped from the headlines gets thronw around a lot but this one hits the mark. I couldn't put it down and finished it in two readings. Action, adventure and as always with Patterson a shocking end. Highly recommended.
