This book is basically a collection of oral history from the early - mid 1900's in rural Alabama. I've met the author and he is a cheerful man who grew up as one of 14 children and eventually went on to serve in the Alabama State Senate and hold other government positions. He wrote this book when he was 97 as a way to pass on true stories that are full of interesting situations needing to be dealt with in a poor rural, southern setting. It is an educational glimpse into real life in the South roughly 100 years ago.
