I loved Eat,Pray.Love, so was eager to read this one. It is different in that it is much more didactic, about the history of marriage and all it's permutations. But Elizabeth makes it very interesting, as she tells why it was so important for her to do all this research on marriage, in the context of her love for Felipe (not his real name) and his ouster from the US after 9-11, because he came from Brazil. It took 10 months for the US to let him in, and would do so only under a "fiance visa", that is, he must get married within one month. Because of past painful divorces, both Liz and Felipe had decided never to get married again, and now she had to talk herself into it! Taught me a lot about marriage, as well as why someone would NOT want to get married!
