REMEMBER WHEN is one of my all-time favorite books of Judith McNaught. The characters are very engaging. This is one of several books about the Foster family, a family made from a second marriage of both mother and father, bringing two teenage girls together as step-sisters.
At the father's death, the women in the family pull together to make a living out of the gardening, cooking, and decorating skills the mother and grandparents have taught the girls. Much like Martha Stewart, the girls use their photography and editing skills to create books and a magazine promoting their ideas. It's fun to read a story of admirable people and interesting ideas.
Then romance kicks in, with a neighbor's former stable boy who has also made a name for himself, but both of the young people are fighting the snobbishness of the "Fashionably elite" they must mingle with, because of their humble beginnings.
I've never hobnobbed with high society, but I can imagine the challenges they face are pretty accurate. Anyway, a great read! I give it five stars!
