For my African American history class in college I had to do a 20min presentation on any famous black american- I choose W.E.B. DuBois, in order to do that I read both of the books in this series. Both were an amazing glimpse into his life and history as well as his quirky personality. The first book about his childhood and young adult life was much more interesting to me as it told many first hand stories of our country during that time from a different point of view than my white ancestors had told me.
This book was good too as it told of the later struggles.
This would not be as fun of a read for someone not a history lover. I read historical books out of interest in my free time and find them interesting. There are slow parts and over analyzed parts but over all it is a very good book!
