A well done book, printed on stock that can withstand a bit of water when used in the field. The authors operate a successful diving service. I will send it to the old soldiers and sailors home to provide someone with a pleasant hour looking it over.
Each creature is illustrated with a small photograph and succinct details consisting of common name, scientific name, Hawaiian name, average size, description and distinctive features, diet, where to find them, and observations.
Observation for a moray: "In spite of its vicious appearance, the Viper eel is normally quite docile toward a diver's approach. However, in areas where eels have been fed by man, this species has be3en known to become very aggressive and should be avoided." (Do tourists still feed bears in Yellowstone National Park? Do S. Cal. surfers still go out near seal rookeries where sharks may visit?)
The book is organized by family and includes a good index.
