Virginia Woolf is recovering from a nervous breakdown under the watchful eye of her husband, Leonard, when a brief newspaper story about the suicide of a Belgian refugee piques her curiousity. Eluding the overprotective strategies of Leonard and her doctor, the unlikely slueth tracks down the story and finds herself involved with a network of spies and traitors. With the help of many familiar denizens of Bloomsbury, Woolf uncovers an intrigue that may determine the course of World War I.
