Poetry. I thought this was going to be uplifting female power type poetry and some of the poems were. But others were brutally harsh and about rape, abuse, love gone horribly wrong. Written memoir style with the author as Princess (young child), the damsel (young adult) and then the Queen. So like reading someone's life story and the life did get better.

the princess
jumped from
the tower
& she
learned
that she
could fly
all along.
-she never needed those wings
