This book is a delight. The Poppers' bold idea was met at the time with a lively discussion and much support and much opposition. The author has followed the Poppers from their college offices to travel around the country, to the sites and sights of bison on the range, to academic seminars, to public forums. Their idea of returning the Great Plains to a bison range is still very much alive; Ms. Matthews' book is a starting point for its continued discussion.
