Zachary Smith is tired of dealing with cantankerous clients and high-maintenance women, and has decided he is done with paranormal adventures after his narrow brushes with death in one century or another following at the heels of his brother in law. Unfortunately his family's ghostly ancestors have other plans for him, and he walks through a doorway into medieval England in the 13th century, where he promptly falls in love with Mary de Piaget. Mary is betrothed to a man she is afraid is planning to kill her, and asks Zachary to help her escape him. Zachary is determined not to do anything to alter the future he hopes to return to, but he finds it very difficult to resist his attraction, especially when he realizes that in the family's genealogy in the future, he has read that Mary is to die within a few weeks. Kurland once again weaves a touching and fun romantic adventure, full of cameos of characters from her previous books that her fans have come to love, and this is another excellent addition to the collection.
