Excellent horror story that keeps its pace throughout the entire book. It had a blend of different types of terror that worked quite well together. First was the horror of the truth and what is real. We go back in the time of segregation and racism and see the daily hatred that black people had to endure. Then you have The Reformatory. A terrible place where unimaginable things happen. Inside the walls of this cruel place lurk spirits not at rest and an evil man who takes pleasure in the torture and abuse of others. But, behind all this hatred is a group of characters you find yourself rooting for as they fight hard for each other and for the tormented souls that are in search of peace.
So many feels throughout the book. This was my first Due book but it definitely won't be the last.
