Widow of Gettysburg is the first book that Ive read by Jocelyn Green. The story is intriguing and very thought provokingnot an easy read, but one that invites the reader to ponder the issues. It is evident that the author dug deep into the historical background, and she ably weaves the history onto the pages of her novel. As I read this story of war and pain, I felt as if I was right there in the midst of the blood, horrific smells, and din of Gettysburg and the surrounding hills and fields. It isnt a comfortable place to be. The realism of the war is compounded by the personal problems facing individual characters.

If you are interested in the Civil War, especially as it was dealt with by civilians, this book is one you will want to read.
