After walking through Ikea once, and probably never again, this book really appealed to me. The idea sounded great but the execution didn't meet my expectations. In the book we follow 2 main characters, Ava and Jules. They are co-workers who were in a previous relationship. When a customer shows up missing in the vast store, these two are assigned to go find them which ends up being in other worlds.
The beginning of the book with the constant bickering made me want to give up. Once we enter the worlds, there is more bickering but we start to see more of the odd dimensions that exist besides our own. These worlds were very imaginative and fun and would have liked to explore them more but once you get settled in, it is over.
My favorite things about the book is the idea behind it and the worlds that they went through. I thought these were very interesting. My dislikes would be the characters and the time spent focusing on them. I didn't find the main characters very likeable. They didn't really have a lot of redeeming qualities until the end, which was too late. About the only character I cared about was Captain Nouresh. Also, I don't have a problem with having a non-binary character but it does make reading about them very confusing. Other than that, it was a neat story but doubt I will continue with it.
