This book definitely pokes fun at the cliches of the regency novel genre, while at the same time the author incorporates many facets of Jane Austen's books, Pride and Prejudice in particular comes to mind. There is an evil villian, who sents out to win money from the heroines' father by running away with the younger, more impetous daughter. However, he bits off more than he can chew. At times hilarious, and always amusing, this is a very classy and clever regency.
