In 1986, Twelve year old Melissa Landy was snatched from her front yard and later found dead. Jason Jessup was convicted of her murder. Now 24 years later, DNA from a semen stain on the little girl's dress points to Melissa's stepfather. Jessup's conviction was overturned and a new trial is ordered. Defense Attorney Mickey Haller is asked to cross the aisle and work for the prosecution on this case. He chooses his ex-wife, Maggie McPherson, to be second chair, and his half-brother, Harry Bosch, to be the lead investigator. When Jessup is released pending trial, Bosch makes sure there are eyes on him 24/7. Mickey and his team work to make sure Jessup doesn't get a chance to kill another innocent child.

This is an excellent addition to both the Harry Bosch series and the Mickey Haller series. The story is told by both men in alternating chapters. The story pulled me in quickly. I had a hard time putting this one down. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
