Book Review of Resilience: Reflections on the Burdens and Gifts of Facing Life's Adversities

Resilience: Reflections on the Burdens and Gifts of Facing Life's Adversities

This book is by and about Elizabeth Edwards, the mother who lost a son, battled cancer, and was betrayed by the love of her life. It is not about a political figure or a celebrity, and I was thankful for that. I wept as she recounted her journey through the pain of her greatest losses, fears and dissapointments. And even though I know that she has passed, I wanted to believe, as she did, that she could hang in there long enough to start a new life for herself, see her young children grown, and perhaps even hold a grandchild in her arms. Her resilience and her love are the gifts she leaves behind to her readers.
