Chief of Police Kate Burkholder is called to a farm where she finds an Amish grandmother, Mary Yoder, brutally murdered. Her seven-year-old granddaughter, Elsie, has been abducted. There are few clues. The girl's family is well liked. No one has threatened the grandmother or the little girl. No one has noticed a stranger in the area. While questioning the parents, Kate and BCI Investigator John Tomasetti begin to believe they are hiding something...something that could get their daughter killed.

I'm so glad to be back in the world of Kate Burkholder. These books pull me in from the first chapter and don't let up. Everyone knows that the longer Elsie is missing, the higher chance that she will not survive. Kate knows that the Amish community is withholding a secret. She just has to keep digging to find out what it is. My rating: 5 Stars.
