Book Review of Out from Boneville (Bone, Bk 1)

Out from Boneville (Bone, Bk 1)

There's a lot about this book I don't understand. Most prominent among these contentions is what a Bone is exactly. They look like a hybrid cross between Moomins and smurfs. However, none of my questions kept me from enjoying this book.
The characters are very relatable--there's the people-pleaser, the class clown, the spoiled brat, among the Bones, for example. Other things I absolutely love are the dragon, the family of possums, and the fact that the book is mostly from the perspective of Fone Bone. If it had been from the perspective of one of the other Bone cousins it would have gotten old quickly.
This first volume sets up a series of questions to keep readers interested in the series. There is very little closure at the end, but this is not dissatisfying, especially as the next few volumes at least are out.
