Janet Dawson's Jeri Howard series never became really, really popular, which is a real shame. I enjoy the series greatly, including this book. Jeri is hard-working, mostly non-violent PI who uses her brain and lots of digging into the facts and information surrounding a case to solve it.

As we go along with her on the case, she interviews people and gets information. She digs into records and gets information. She does all the other things people do to get information. With each new bit of data, the picture of the case becomes more and more complete, until finally we see who did it and why.

If you're looking for shoot-em-action and car chases, stay away from Dawson. If you're looking for intelligent, persistent investigation, these are great stories.
