I can't believe it took me this many decades to sit down and read the trilogy. I have the dialogue from all three movies practically memorized, so reading the book was an extremely interesting experience. George Lucas is a phenomenal screenwriter, but the writing of the second and third novels (written by others) flowed much more smoothly than the first.

As with any movie adaptation, there are differences between the page and the screen, most especially in Return of the Jedi. Lando Calrissian is a more fully developed character. Han and Leia's relationship is described more fully. We learn much more of the culture of the Ewoks.
