Book one was a great beginning. Book two will not disappoint you. Gertie is a red head with two wild wacky friends all in their 60s. Gertie doesnt have a license but she drives and tries to avoid getting arrested for that. She will let her friend drive but she drives worse than Gertie, and her other friend also does not have a license. Her son is the Sheriff and her grandson is the prime suspect in this one.
The only thing I wish the character would not do is tamper with evidence. For instance she takes a feather off the shoe of the murder victim, and another clue around the crime scene. She implicates her grandson in the crime cause she drives his car and leaves it near the murder scene. She doesnt fess up, so the police dog smells HER in the car and tracks her down TWICE. So they retire the dog cause obviously the dog is losing his skills. See the dog on the cover of the book? Well she adopts the retired dog and uses him herself to track.
I loved Gertie, and her dog and her whole family and her friends. I am from Michigan so the U.P. Or YOOPER is a great place to go visit and buy Pasties. The author did an authentic job in this book.
I might add that this series by Deb Baker is slow moving on PBS people get them but dont seem to pass them on. I put mine on the bottom of my TBR and wish I had not. Dont you do the same, get it read it, pass it on.
