The Book of Unknown Americans by Cristina Henríquez is about the experience of Latin American immigrants in the US. It is one of several books I have read recently on the topic of immigration. It is a powerful statement in its ending and its characters - people who are just like you and me but who cannot escape prejudice against the way they look, the way they sound, and the place they come from.
