Book Review of My Life on the Run: The Wit, Wisdom, and Insights of a Road Racing Icon

Helpful Score: 2

This book is a quick read, being only 205 pages and a short training guide at the end. I bought this book after reading an excerpt from Parade that made it out to be an inspirational story for beginning runners. However, most of the book details the more memorable marathons that Bart has run, including the Badwater Ultra 146 (146 miles across Death Valley, CA in July) and the Bare Buns Fun Run (where most runners are completely naked). It also mentions Bart's battle with Lyme Disease and it's effect on his running career. Overall it was an interesting read, but not really much in the way of inspiration for me as a beginning runner. I would recommend this book more for the *serious* runner who is aiming for or already competing in half-marathons or more. As a 5k runner, I didn't get a whole lot out of this book.
