I really wish I could get my money back on this book. I can't even believe that I finished it, it was such a disappointing read. It was only my utter enjoyment in all the previous books from this series that made me read until the end so that I could find out what happened in overall story. That, it turned out, was a huge disappointment as well. For all that actually happened in the book, it could have been a much shorter story as it felt like a lot of the content was pointless. It took 100 pages before the incarnations we are familiar with even had any part in the story, and when they finally did get to make an appearance, it was rushed so that they took up hardly any time in the story at all.

Then, there's the sex. I have to say that when I was only a few pages into the book and already reading about a young girl being told to stick a dildo up her hoo haw at the suggestion of a man, I had to wonder what I was getting into with this story and what the author was thinking. I know it's been awhile since I had read this series, but I don't remember it giving me the feeling that all I was doing was watching a porn movie (you know, lots of pointless sex and and even worse plot). It really made me feel like I was reading something that belonged to his Pornucopia series instead of the Incarnations series. It was bad enough that by page 50 I'd lost track of the number of sexual encounters that the book had already had (If any future readers want to take a tally, feel free to post the number in a review! Don't forget the ones that are all of two sentences long as well! lol) I can say that what this book lacked in quality sex scenes, it certainly made up for in quantity. It felt like the average encounter was about once every two pages.

It would seem that in his old age, the pervert that is in Piers Anthony is really coming out. It really feels like he's a crusty old man who's living vicariously through his writing. This was the second newer release that I've been totally disappointed with because of the pedophilia that is part of the story line. I'd like to consider myself a liberal, but when there's a scene with a man feeling a girl's chest who barely need a training bra, I tend to find it uncomfortable to think there are readers out there who may enjoy this. And then to top it off, that adult male claims that the girl seduced HIM! Good grief! And I do understand that for the time period that this starts out in that such an age difference wouldn't be considered unusual, but I kept thinking that that must be why the author chose it, so that he could have a fourteen-year-old girl being prostituted in his story.

Overall, I know I won't be buying any future new releases by this author. I was severely bummed out that this was the second book in the past couple years that really just had one theme in it that overshadowed the story that I had bought the book for in the first place.
