What an awesome book! What I loved most about this book was that it wasn't written by or for a perky 25-year-old divorcing & starting over. It was written by & intended for someone more like me, a sad, lost 44 year old (I won't specify whether that describes me or the author *sigh*).
As a voracious reader, I'd read many, many self-help divorce books by the time I found this one, & I'd been alone for over 6 months. I really thought I was past learning or really needing help, yet I found myself crying before getting through the introduction & first chapter. It was incredibly surprising, because I'm ordinarily not one to cry easily, felt I was past the weeping phase of divorcing & being alone, & had been through several other separate & equally heart-shattering experiences since my divorce; yet, I found myself making realizations I should have been aware of previously and wading through emotions I hadn't yet faced.
This book was truly the "kind of best friend" you need beside you as you suffer through & recover from divorce. The recommendations it suggested were extremely beneficial. Even though the topic is not a particularly happy one, the author's humor was hilarious as well as inspiring.
I plan to keep my copy & buy copies for friends who I find in this trying situation in the future.
