Messages from the Masters carries an incredibly positive message. A classically trained psychiatrist, Dr. Brian Weiss became awoken to the possibility of past lives through a patient named Catherine. He has since written three other books and has become the guru of New Age past-life regression psychotherapy. The message of this book is simple: we are all divine, immortal, spiritual beings who are always loved, and in fact are love. Such souls go through multiple reincarnations, and between physical lives we receive guidance from Masters to plan which lessons we wish to learn in the next life. By being in tune with this "reality," we can become less afraid, more alive in the present, more compassionate, more fulfilled, happier and healthier. It's a wonderful message, but I think even if his and his patients' experiences point to this framework, its overwhelming positivity does not fulfill the concept of balance or yin yang. Although very comforting, I am not sure if love is as all-encompassing as is claimed. Although the ideas are deep, the words are simple and easy to digest.
