Sean King and Michelle Maxell have finished a job and are heading home when suddenly a young boy, Tyler Wingo, appears in the road in front of them, soaking wet from the torrential downpour they are driving through. Sean slams on the brakes, Michelle chases the boy down, and they take him home. There they find his stepmother, who does not seem concerned about his disappearance, and some military men who are there to notify the family that Tyler's father has been killed in action in Afghanistan. Something seems off, but Sean and Michelle are not sure what it is, so they leave the boy, giving him phone number if he wants to talk to them.

The next day, the boy hires them to find out what happened to his Dad, because he doesn't buy the official story. Then Tyler receives an email from his father, sent AFTER his supposed death, in the code that they use to communicate private messages.

So, what IS the story? Who was Wingo working for when he disappeared and, supposedly, was killed? What was his mission in Afghanistan? And who seems to be after Tyler?
