Wonderful book and story. The loyalty displayed by the protagonist excluded any other emotion or the emotions were tamped down and not displayed. A wonderful look at what it was like to serve in a great manor house before WWII and then a jump into contemporary time. The main characters were slowly developed and it was all the more disturbing. Highly recommend it.
