A must-read for any women dealing with menopause and aging! This is a wonderful story of the European travels of a 50 yo mother and her 20-something daughter who has just graduated from college. Authors and would-be novelists will love it too as it tells the struggle of trusting yourself to become a novelist like you've always dreamed. Also deals with depression, experiencing a life-altering failure, a young adult's search for their true calling, and the spirituality of aging.
Anyone who has visited sacred sites in France, Greece, and or Turkey will also enjoy the walk down memory lane.
Not 50 pages into the book I was already desperately composing letters to my 22 and 24 yo daughters, poring out my heart to them to recognize the similarities between the mother and daughter authors of this book, and our own relationships and their struggles as new college grads!
As a bonus, it tells the story of how the novel "The Secret Life of Bees" came to be.
