I was so excited to find this book because, as a child, Robinson Crusoe was one of my favorite stories of adventure. As soon as Selkirk's Island arrived, I started reading it and was disappointed within just a few pages. We have a book that is based on the real life of Selkirk, and this is a story that should be naturally adventurous and action filled, but the author killed it! It was dry, dull, and a chore to read. It read like a list of facts and gave no sense of who the characters were and what the times were truly like. What a disappointment!
