An excellent book for adults, older children, experienced horsefolk, and individuals just wanting to learn something new. The horse lover will be able to hone their identification skills and the casual reader won't believe how many there are. The book is groups breeds into the cold bloods (drafts), ponies, warmbloods, and the two "hotbloods".

Each breed is presented with a history and photos. What sets it apart from similar books is the organizations and illustrations. Each horse for that particular set of facing pages is illustrated in "line up format" for lack of a better term. You see the horses and ponies shown standing in line against ruled lines to compare heights and sizes to give you a sense of scale. There is also a "stat box" for each breed of country of origin, average size, etc which makes it very easy to flip through and find what you are looking for. In the book, there is an index of horse breeds by country as well.

If you can get your hands on this book, I highly recommend keeping it on your shelf.
