An ordinary man and an ordinary woman, find themselves responsible for saving the entire universe(s). Of course their real motivation is saving thier children.
For reasons that I still don't understand, the "good guys" kidknap Minerva's children (see she isn't doing a good job protecting the universe(s)) so they want to fire her from the job. IE kill her and her husband. Yet in order to kill her, they decided to kidknap her children first.
A very weak plot point that never gets resolved.
Basicly this book is full of ideas, but nothing to tie them together.
