A good read for planes, trains, automobiles, or the beach. The chapters alternate between her background - a childhood spent in suburban Middle Class New Jersey (Joisey?) to becoming a rock star reporter in New York for Rolling Stone - and her sardonic insights on how to interview actual rock stars. The family & bad boyfriend stuff was mostly a total snooze, but the smartass chapters on the wiles and machinations of getting surly, hungover rock gods and the rich & famous to open up make this a worthwhile read. You'll learn tactics such as the Contrived Activity which is key to a good interview, how to find the member of the entourage with loose lips, and why booze is at least as important as your tape recorder.
