I picked this up because it is the hot read in 7th grade right now at my child's school. As a 39 year old, it was not "the best book EVER" that the teen bloggers had described, but I did like how each Caster had a different power and how it was narrated by the male protagonist. The best friend relationship is great. At times it was a little slow moving and I wanted the bits of the mystery to be revealed a little more quickly. I wasn't quite sure how a book could be YA with a comparison to True Blood on the back cover, but it must be referring to the southern setting as opposed to the sex, because the most that happens here is serious kissing. I liked the atmosphere, the paranormal characters, the changing house, a heroine who writes with pen and ink, and the role of the library and librarian. I wouldn't push it into someone's hands, but I also wouldn't forbid it. There is a seemingly good demon, though we don't get a whole lot of detail about that aspect of his being.
